Why have I started this campaign?
Because in the last few weeks I have seen lots of different people write in papers, on blogs, in emails and in forums about how disgusting it is that the government and society is blaming them for things like the riots. I wanted to find a way to use this energy for something positive.
What difference will it make?
Honestly? I have no idea, but what I would hope is that it might put faces and names to single parents and show society and the government just how brilliant we are. We now have the statistics to show that the stereotypes are a myth, so hopefully we can add to that with real life stories of how we are out there working hard to make our children and ourselves the best we can.
Is this politically motivated?
No, it is not party political. But yes I want to show people within government what real single parents are like. But I also want to show this to the wider society. The intention is to start with David Cameron but not stop there.
How will my details be used?
Only I have access to the email account, the emails sent will be printed and compiled into a file. This will then be passed to Number 10. We do need to have something to show that real people are writing these emails, but if you want to just have your email and first name on your letter that is fine.
How can I keep updated?
You can subscribe to the blog where I will do updates of numbers of emails we have got and also when information is being sent. We also have a Facebook group where updates will be posted. You can always email me to ask about anything.
